Vishal Food and Catering

Good evening mikes!

Yeap, I am back from my short holiday. How are you all doing? What's the country been saying lately? (That's besides the point.) Sungai Petani was fine, I visited number of places and tried many Kedahan local fares. I must say, yummy and cheap it was. Its just that i have been occupied with  work and random chores, i wasn't able to do much postings since i returned.

I shall do a short posting on "Vishal Food & Catering, Brickfields" for now. Just to keep my self enthusiastic about eating out.

I bet on my last penny that many of you have been to this restaurant for authentic banana leaf rice experience. Well, hear it from me too, the more the merrier right?

Last week Thursday, my "cikgu" and i decided to dine out and we chose "Vishal Food & Catering, Brickfields".  You know, some days you will have this ultimate craving's for banana leaf rice right? This was one of that craving fulfilling days that you need to address urgently and over a 25 minutes drive from Jalan Tun Razak, we reached.

Located alongside of the shop-lots opposite Brickfields Hanuman & Perumal  temple, "Vishal Catering" first started of as a one unit shop lot unit restaurant has now sprouted into two shop lot restaurant with larger sitting capacity. I would strongly advise you all head to this joint during lunch hour because all their yummy food spread will be prepared and servedpipping hot and fresh. You can have the usual favorites (fish, chicken, mutton, seafood, etc etc) or the rarest ( goat intestines curry anyone?).

By the time we reached, most of the dishes finished and we were left with limited choice. They also serve the usual mamak store fares later in the nigh but tastier of course. (Authentic catering leh)

Our Banana Leaf respectively.
My colleague settled for the Chettinad chicken where else i chose the  Black Pepper chicken, (Chettinad chicken, top right). Both dishes was excellent in flavour but was cold. A slight disappointment. 7/10

Spicy & Tongue tingling rasam 7/10

I decided to drench my and coat my rice with spicy rasam and my colleague opted for chicken curry. The only thing that was a turn of on our leaf was, we think its the stir fried beans and carrot, it tasted tad spoiled.

There, can you see it? - 0/10

We washed all this down with a cup of filter coffee/Chennai coffee each. Milky and creamy. The scent of roast coffee, simply divinely intoxicating.

Chennai Coffee. 8/10
The bill for both pf us came up to RM 31.10, that is RM 15.55 per person. My coll ague also ordered a cup of moore ice (Chilled buttermilk smoothies). I think it was reasonable for banana leaf rice, a side dish and two-one drink.

Vishal catering, good place with adequate Tamil Nadu mess like setting. This was my experience.... Try it and do let me know ok? Lunch hour is the best time to go to for banana leaf rice, strongly and highly recommended.

Bye for now mikes!
